Ready to take your handgun skills to the next level? Fox Valley Shooting Range and Top Shot Academy have teamed up for a Thursday Night Action Shoot. USPSA/IPSC style action shooting. Drawing from your holster, shooting on the move, engaging multiple targets. Some nights will include shooting our steel targets, and some will be all steel nights. Prerequisite: Completion of our Intro to Competition Shooting class or proof of participation in a USPSA or IDPA event

This class will pick up where the Youth Intro to Handguns left off. There will be a review of safe gun handling and range safety. This class will involve more range time than the Youth Introduction to Handguns class since we will be working on actual shooting skills. We will also attempt to determine eye dominance. The class runs approximately 1 ½ – 2 hours. We will be using the .22 caliber pistol. The class is limited to eight students.Range fee, use of handgun and ammunition included. The Concealed Carry Weapons course is designed to satisfy the requirements to obtain a state of Illinois Concealed Carry permit. Your training will encompass both classroom and live fire training. Our instructors also provide you with a complete overview of the basics of managing unknown contact, basic shooting skills, situational awareness, and equipment/clothing considerations as well as justifiable use of force. Students will be required to pass a practical shooting test involving 30 rounds, 10 rounds at 5 yards and at 7 yards, and 10 rounds at 10 yards. You must achieve a 70% in the scoring area of the target. You will have two chances to qualify. There is no shooting training or practice involved, just the qualification. The course is a total of 16 hours over two days or over four evenings. Prerequisite(s): FOID card and have a good understanding of the safe use of a hand gun.

Our certified instructors will cover safe weapons handling procedures, general handgun knowledge, the fundamentals of marksmanship, as well as the proper care and storage of firearms. In Home Defense training you will learn a variety of techniques necessary to safely operate in a defensive situation inside the home. These skills will include shooting on the move techniques, low light shooting, malfunction clearing, and other essential skills. After this class, you will have the knowledge to create a safe plan for your home and how to remain focused on your surroundings when out in public. The class costs $60.00 per person with a $20.00 nonrefundable deposit. If fewer than 10 people register we reserve the right to cancel the class. Project Safe Child is a free, one-hour course for both parents/guardians and their children. This class will not only bring this important conversation to the table, but give every household simple and practical tools in keeping children safe. Prerequisite(s): Children must be 4 to 10 years old

A chance to learn about firearms without all the macho baggage your husband, boyfriend or brothers bring with them. We know you love them, but sometimes it’s more comfortable taking your first shots with the girls. In this class you’ll learn about firearm safety, storage and basic nomenclature. We’ll start you off with an extremely low recoil .22 caliber pistol, revolver and a 9mm pistol. By the end of the day you might just know more, and be a better shot than your husband or boyfriend. No former experience required, ammunition and firearms are provided for this class. Class is 3 Hours. Prerequisite: Ladies only, no other experience is required.

We will provide all firearm and other equipment for the course. Absolutely no firearms or ammunition will be allowed in the classroom. Students may bring their own eye protection and/or ear protection for range use or purchase ear protection at Fox Valley Shooting Range.

Taking your first shots on a live range under instructor supervision
You’ll get tons of trigger time in our SIRT/BladeTech DryFire Zone. We start you off with our SIRT (Shot Indicating Resetting Trigger) laser pistols and BladeTech competition holsters. We’ll send you home with not only the skills needed to safely compete, but also safe holster and dry practice drills that you can do at home to maintain and enhance your self-defense skills. The best part is the last hour of class on the range moving and shooting a min-match.
Students will provide their own safe firearm (appropriate for competition) and safe holster for their model pistol, as well as three to five extra magazines and mag pouches. All students may use our equipment in class free of charge and rent one of our complete rigs for range use. No firearms ammunition needed for the classroom portion, but for the range portion we suggest 100 to 200 rounds of ammunition.
Due to safety concerns and competition rules, shoulder holsters, inside the waistband, and small of the back holsters will not be permitted.

This three hour youth class will teach students (ages 8-14) how to respect, safely handle and shoot a gun. The classroom portion will cover the four safety rules of handling a gun, the mechanics of semi-automatic pistols and the fundamentals of shooting (stance, grip, sighting, and trigger control) with training guns – all in a safe, controlled environment. The range portion will give students the opportunity to practice those skills, and build their confidence, with live fire shooting, using .22 caliber pistols. This class is a great way to introduce your children to firearms. Prerequisite(s): Children must be 8 to 14 years old
