Youth Introduction to Handgun
Intro to Youth Handguns is designed to provide young shooters with a safe, structured introduction to handgun shooting. This course combines classroom instruction with live-fire range training to help students develop safe firearm handling habits, proper shooting fundamentals, and confidence on the range. Under the supervision of certified instructors, students will learn the importance of firearm safety while gaining hands-on experience with .22 LR handguns in a controlled and supportive environment. The goal of this course is to teach safe firearm practices while helping students build respect, control, and confidence with a firearm. Whether a student is preparing for future shooting sports, hunting, or simply wants to learn the fundamentals, this class provides a solid foundation for responsible firearm ownership and use.
Prerequisite(s): None (Completion of Safety First Academy is recommended but not required)
Class Information:
- Format: Classroom Instruction + Live Fire Range Training
- Length: 2 Hours
- 45 Minutes Classroom Instruction
- 1 Hour Live Fire Range Session
- 15 Minute Debrief and Review
- Class Size: Maximum 8 Students
- Age Requirement: 9–17 Years Old
Range Training:
Students will use .22 LR handguns, typically semi-automatic pistols, during the live-fire portion of the course. Revolvers may be available upon request. Instructors will provide individualized coaching to help students develop proper technique and safe firearm handling skills.
Debrief & Review:
At the conclusion of the course, instructors will review each student's progress, discuss strengths and areas for improvement, reinforce safe firearm handling practices, and revisit the 4 Universal Firearm Safety Rules to ensure students leave with a strong understanding of responsible firearm use. This course provides a fun, safe, and educational introduction to handgun shooting while emphasizing the skills and habits necessary to become a responsible and confident shooter.
