Stop The Bleed
The class teaches individuals how to control life-threatening bleeding using simple, effective techniques. It empowers bystanders to intervene and potentially save lives before professional medical help arrives, focusing on quick and decisive action. The class typically covers recognizing life-threatening bleeding, applying direct pressure, packing wounds, and using tourniquets.
Requirements: None. All practice equipment will be provided.
Individual First Aid Kits (IFAK) will be available for purchase if desired.
Topics Covered:
- Recognizing Life-Threatening Bleeding: Learning to identify signs of severe bleeding and understanding why it’s important to control it.
- Applying Direct Pressure: Using hands or available materials to stop bleeding by applying pressure to the wound.
- Packing Wounds: Using available materials to fill a wound and apply pressure, particularly for deep wounds.
- Tourniquet Application: Learning how to correctly and effectively apply a tourniquet to stop bleeding in a limb.
- Hands-on Practice: Participants practice the techniques using simulated scenarios and materials.
- Empowerment: The goal is to transform bystanders into active first responders who can intervene confidently and effectively.
